Sakai "Nori-P" Noriko

Probably the cutest girl in the world - ever! Now, what can I say here that hasn't been said in the numerous Nori-P web pages out there? Since those sites focus mostly on her career of only the past 3 or 4 years, I'm gonna focus on her early career.

Nori-P, (I know she doesn't use this name anymore, but since this was her nickname when I first got into her in '87, I'm gonna continue using it 'cause old habits die hard) debuted in 1987 with the single "Otoko ni Naritai", but hit it big with "Nagisa no Fantasy" (I still have the 45! Yeah, you heard me - I bought the VINYL single when it first came out. Man, I feel old...). And she stayed on the charts with a string of hits including "Norenai Teenage", "Guanbare", "Happy Again" and "Diamond Blue" (I'm in the video! Yeah, only for a second, but hey! I'm in the video!). Her Nori-P House store in Harajuku, Tokyo (she also had stores in Nagoya and Kyoto) was the longest running of the individual idol shops.

I'll just have to be content to be stuck in the 80s since I find the new Noriko Sakai to be quite borrrrrrrring. The come-latelys can have that, I'll keep watching my old Nori-P videos.

Nori-P's popularity has since waned in Japan but gained in Hong Kong and Taiwan and as a result she has recorded at least one song in Chinese (!???). Nori-P has since established herself as an excellent actress. If you need statistics on her, like what her dog's fave treat is, I suggest visiting any of the many excellent Nori-P Web sites out there. Ok, now, everybody sing with me... "happy, happy yappiiiiiieeeeee..."
