Pumpkin

Hayashi Chiharu (left) and Shiroyama Mikako (right) of Pumpkin were the unfortunate victims of bad timing since they debuted at about the same time that Wink did. Pumpkin started out singing backup for Mizutani Mari, then got offered a record contract and set out on their own. They had minor hits with "Pledge Heart" and "Taiyo no Halation". Although the girls were obviously talented, they didn't stand a chance against the Wink juggernaut and were soon plowed under. Too bad. Cute girls. Their strong point was the harmonies that they would sing, not only in the chorus, but throughout the entire song. They did land a spot as co-hosts on a variety show though.

Chiharu later departed and was replaced by Ogawa Masumi.
