Hikaru was born in Japan but was raised in Los Angeles, until she was about 12 years old. Her family then moved back to Japan where she started honing up the musical skills that the talented little girl was showing in LA. She eventually got spotted and became quite the popular idol. And with a command of both english and japanese, her songs stood out of the rest since she didn't pronounce english words the way most Japanese usually do. She's got some pretty catchy tunes out there - give "Tokimeite" or Meguri Ai" a listen.

She also became one of the premier pin-up girls in Japan. Sold tons of calendars she did, yes.
