Kudo Shizuka
Onyanko Club member #38 and one third of the group Ushirogami Hikaretai (with two other Onyanko members #40 Ikuina Akiko, and #42 Saito Makiko). Shizuka started out in the idol trio Seventeen Club. After the group released only 2 singles, she joined the Onyanko Club and then really started to get noticed.
Shizuka gained solo popularity in the late 80s and before long, she became established as the idol of preference among the "Yankees", a fifties retro subculture group that would be equivalent of the American "Greasers". Her popularity was so great that she extended her influence across the waters into Hong Kong and Taiwan and remains a very popular figure there today.
Shizuka was a regular in the top ten charts scoring hit after hit with singles such as "Daitekutara innoni", "Fujitsu" and "Mugo'n Iroppoi" which has become a karaoke standard.
Shizuka was one of the biggest idols in Japanese pop history, right up there along Akina and Seiko.
