Hamada Mari
Mari started out as the undisputed queen of Japanese heavy metal way back in 1982. "Miss Metal" as Mari called called back then, was belting out fast and heavy tunes like "Spacer", "Blue Revolution" and "Don't Change Your Mind" which were fast and heavy enough to be on par with the likes of Judas Priest!
But with the changing metal scene, she went in search of more commercial climates and found it with the singles "Heart and Soul", "Call My Luck" and "Return to Myself". Her hunger for commercial acceptance led her to a small sold out concert in Los Angeles in August 2, 1990 (were you there?) which was filmed and later released as a live video and the release of albums entirely in english. The gamble failed of course and she had to be content with her renewed success in Japan.
And yeah, I know she's not an idol. Leave me alone.
