Asaka Yui

The "Candid Girl" herself. Yui gained wide popularity when she was cast as the yoyo-throwing Yui Kazama in the hit TV series Sukeban Deka III. With co-stars Yuka Onishi and Yuma Nakamura, the show gained cult status, further building on the already fanatical following of the previous 2 shows. She also had a hit movie with "Yawara!", sort of a judo girl version of "Karate Kid".

Yui had a long string of hits including "C-Girl", "Dream Power", "Cecile", "Melody", and later started writing her own songs including the excellent "Self Control".

She had a nice little store in the middle of Harajuku (a symbol of idol status) where you could get lots of cool Yui stuff and the latest schedule of her activities. Sadly, the store "Yui's" is gone.

After a break from show business for a few years, Yui has made a comeback and is actively recording new songs and touring Japan again. She was recently featured in the "Super Idol Respect Night" concert series.
